KAURI GUM; RESIN COPAL; GUM COPAO; KAURIE; COWRIE; AUSTRALIAN COPAL; KOWREE GUM; 카우리검; 수지코팔; 검코파오; 아님; 카우리; 오스트리안코팔; 카우리검 등으로 불리운다. 인도네시아와 인근 지역에서 자생하는 천연수지로 담황색 또는 황적색의 무미 무취의 고체로서 알코올류에 용해된다.
The resin is produced in Indonesia (mainly on the island Celebes) and on the Philippines. The merchandise derives from the plant Agatis Alba / Agatis Damara. The trees are scratched and the oozing resin is collected. From the Philippines the goods are shipped from Manila, from Indonesia mostly from Ujung Pandang, sometimes also in transhipment via Jakarta or Singapore. It is an aromatic, well-smelling resin. The good qualities are yellowish-whitish clean, the darker ones have dark segregation up to darker pieces, and are partly contaminated by pieces of the bark. Free resin acids, essential oils, bitter principles, colouring matters. The melting point is slightly above 100 °C and depends on the quality. It is possible that Manila Copal blocks during the shipment to Europe - this especially for the merchandise from the Philippines or in case of heat and pressure. The merchandise is soluble in alcohol, only the goods which are sticking at the tree for a longer time are becoming "medium hard" (Loba Copal). These qualities can be dissolved in oils and are hardly soluble in alcohol.

제품용도
공업용 용도로는 코팔니스 및 래커, 에나멜의 원료, 시멘트코학대용, 레코드, 인쇄용으로 사용된다.
For lac varnishes (especially for wood and label lacquers), for linoleum, adhesives and similar products. The medium hard Copal can be used for caterpillar glue.
